After her smash hit with Basenji titled ‘Nobody’s Home’ clocked over 11 million streams across Spotify, Australian artist Mallrat invites us into her childhood through her nostalgic new single ‘Charlie’ that is accompanied by the Tim Hardy directed music video taking place in Melbourne.

Utilising the richness in the piano to incept the piece, ‘Charlie’ opens up the gates to Mallrat‘s youth with a minimalistic approach in the instrumentation that builds over time, allowing her laid back vocal approach to depict the narrative of her relationship with her parents. The music video further accentuates this notion through cameos from Mallrat‘s father and dog (who the song is named after) and utilises artistic effects to further exemplify the nostalgic notion.
