Back in June 2018 we launched a record label called Mammal Sounds Records, and the first single signed to that label was called ‘Blue Pill‘ by an Australian producer who is making himself known as JVLY

That track was followed soon after by a second single titled ‘Milk&Honey‘, and this week JVLY is back with a brand-new tune called ‘tacenda’ which is the first taste of his upcoming second ep, and is also being released via  Mammal Sounds Records.

‘tacenda’ signifies a pivotal shift in the writing process for JVLY, implementing a more naturalised approach that ensures an unforced nature in his creativity.

“This is the first song I finished for a new ep I’ve been writing called ‘Wild Onsen Echoes’. It’s always taken me a long time to finish songs, just dwelling on them even if things aren’t flowing or working out and I think that ends up being a pretty toxic way to create. You get tired of it before you finish and then it’s lost. Lately I’ve been writing a lot of new ideas and if it doesn’t come all that naturally I’m just leaving it to the side. It seems to turn out more organic that way.”

‘tacenda’ takes us on a journey from humble beginnings, luring us in with a restrained yet warm sensation in the production which sets the podium for the unearthing of JVLY’s raspy vocals that will leave you entranced. Lathering up a silkiness in the soundscape, JVLY utilises a minimalistic approach in its composition that injects a copious amount of charisma within the mix.

“‘tacenda’ is one of those songs that came together pretty painlessly. It means ‘things that are better left unsaid’. I find that building the music into an environment of sounds that trigger or inspire a single line or a story is the best way to write. I think it’s kind of backwards, but it works like that for me.”
