I just love a feel-good video with bright colours, smiling faces, amazing scenery and some dancing. Riton delivers with his latest visual work to ‘Money’, an infectious track of acid house and afrobeat.
The video follows Riton, Kah-Lo, Mr Eazi and Davido in the home of afrobeat Lagos as we are taken on a cultural voyage of the city’s finest offerings. I’ve never been to Africa but it is on the top of my list and with this snapshot of what Nigeria is like, sign me up!
We are the tourists in this clip as we are taken around the taxi filled roads, to the salon, and to the football fields, ending at a street party with an epic dance-off, hosted by Kah-Lo and Mr Eazi beneath one of the city’s underpasses. Talk about authenticity.
“We really wanted to capture as much of the life out there without it looking like an Instagram mood story and I think the story – getting ready to go out, having a good time while doing so – reflects the tracks and how the best things in life are free!”
“Have to shout out Sherri Silver too for the choreography and Mr Eazi for being an angel, and Davido (when we managed to track him down, being the most famous musician in Nigeria). It was just incredible to get everyone in the video together,” Riton said.
Every time I hear this song or watch this video I’m energised and inspired. As we edge closer and closer to winter, I know this track will keep me warm and have me dancing around the living room a lot!
