2016 has been a tough year and in many ways, I’m pretty glad to leave it behind and start afresh. In terms of music however, 2016 was on the up and up. The live music scene in Melbourne is more vibrant than ever – I’ve been to more gigs this year than ever before. Festivals are increasing in quantity and quality, providing ever more opportunities for up and coming local artists. But the biggest thing for me has been the massive increase in female talent. So many new female artists have had their voices added to the sound. Hopefully 2016 will be the year we finally see an all female act take out first place in the Hottest 100.

My TOP 10 ALBUMS of 2016 was (as usual) incredibly tough to put together. In the end I picked them based on which had the most plays in my iTunes library.

1. Aurora – All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend

2. Emma Louise – Supercry

3. Glass Animals – How To Be A Human Being

4. Banks – The Altar

5. Tourist – U

6. Lapsley – Long Way Home

7. Ngaiire – Blastoma

8. AlunaGeorge – I Remember

9. Safia – Internal

10. Jezebels – Synthia
