Slumberjack – Open Fire (ft. Daniel Johns) [New Single]

Slumberjack have a big new tune for us today called ‘Open Fire’ which features the voice of Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns, and I reckon this one is going to push all the right buttons in a lot you.

It’s being released by Diplo’s Mad Decent, and will be seen on Slumberjack’s upcoming ep that we can expect later on in 2016 – which is rumoured to feature a nice little crew guest vocalists

Pat Lok – You Street [New Single]

New music from Pat Lok is always a good thing, but when it happens on a Friday it’s multiplied by a million – it’s pure science!

Pat Lok has just released quite an infectious original housey treat called ‘You Street’, and if you’re not feeling this one deep in your loins, I’d recommend you go see a doctor stat.

“I started writing this on a plane after a gig on the East Coast. I’ve always loved big brassy sounds in dance music since hearing PNAU – Embrace way back. This was really one of those times where the chords almost wrote themselves… I haven’t really done a proper club tune in awhile, so it was exciting to try and combine these two concepts (music I enjoy writing vs the music I play out at shows)” – Pat Lok

Random Soul Remix Lauryn Hill’s Doo-Wop (That Thing) [Premiere]

Today I am pretty excited to premiere this new remix of the classic Lauryn Hill track ‘Doo-Wop (That Thing)’ by Sydney house lords Random Soul, and as I’m sure you will agree they have done the song justice with their infectious house beats and summer-dance grooves.

“We’ve always loved a bit of Lauren Hill, so we made this remix for our live sets and it’s always a good party starter. We’ve been rocking it for a few years now and we think it’s time for our fans to have a copy” – Random Soul

Motez – The Vibe EP [Review]

words by Alex Milne

After several months on the back burner, Motez has reappeared with his four track ep The Vibe. With deep bass and bouncing beats, featuring artists such as Tkay Maidza, Scrufizzer and Wax Motif, The Vibe builds and improves on his earlier work.

‘Down Like This’ featuring Tkay Maidza is sure to be a club hit. Starting slow and building to a drop with percussive vocals and zipping sound effects, this one gets you dancing.

‘Like You’ is my favourite one in this EP; smooth and upbeat, with the good vibes of Duke Dumont, I’ve had it on repeat for days.

‘The Vibe’ featuring Scruffizer is full of spacey sound effects and a step like melody. The vocals include more rapping than we’ve heard from Motez in the past.

‘Know Me’ brings it back again with the classic Motez house sound that we know and love.

The only bad thing I could possibly say about The Vibe is that there were only four songs. Motez will be touring in May, with shows all around Australia. The EP will be released to ITunes on the 22nd of April.

Rating: ★★★★
