Perth indie-pop singer/songwriter Alex Brittan has released his second EP, Thirsty Bird, the follow-up to his impressive 2013 debut, Play Dead EP. The sugary intro to this minimal but catchy five-track EP kicks off with the delicate and cosy ‘Thirsty Bird’, with a gentle, almost folk-like fluttery chorus and honeyed, high-pitched vocals. Inspired by crummy Tinder dates, social anxiety and failed relationships; Brittan has managed to create something sweet and a little endearing with organic vocals and lush, summery electronic beats.

There’s a subtle, almost tender flow of continuation from each track…it’s just almost to the point of pop saturation. Fourth track off the EP, ‘Outer Love’, has more of a tropical, Majestic Casual feel to it, but it isn’t until you get to the final track (which is a Burn Water remix of ‘Thirsty Bird’), that you really get the sense of diversity Brittan’s music is truly capable of. It’s a little haunting, a little funky and truly something kind of special.
