We here at acid stag tend to indulge in the beautifully crude fruits of the bedroom producer’s labour. The work’s vulnerability is palpable in its imperfect assembly, and that’s how we like it. Exemplifying this sentiment is Terra, a Sydneysider drawing from the latest wave of breakout producers of the alternative electronic inclination. Fresh from the underground, he brings you Other Worlds.
Terra, aka Anthony Zammit, explains that the album is an expression of his “need to do more with my life than just coast through comfortably doing the shit everybody else does (job, kids, money). It’s a longing for adventure to experience things I never have.” It’s a fine effort for the acid stag newcomer; presenting no less than nine-tracks, the record is neatly bound by a uniform aesthetic. Highlights include ‘Birthday Beauty’ – which entertains more experimental musicianship and pitched up vocal hooks – and ‘Moonrise’, a tune that channels the melodic vibes of Japanese producer Tomggg with its playful orchestral musings. ‘World Weary’ also features vocal talent Evita, who reveals a stellar proficiency in writing hooks.
Other Worlds was released on April 20 through American outfit Damn Son!, and can be downloaded at Bandcamp, where you can pay as little or as much as you’d like for it.
