Tame Impala: Prototype (OutKast Cover) [Like A Version]

For those who aren’t familiar with triple j’s weekly segment ‘Like a version’, it showcases a band’s take on a track of their choosing. The quality of the results are often varied, with some outstanding covers being produced while others are so bad they could be referred to as “blasphemous.”

This morning’s was one of the former, with Tame Impala taking on the formidable task of performing Outkast’s track ‘Prototype.’

Taken from their grammy-winning 2003 album Speakerboxx/The Love Below, Andre 3000’s extraterrestrial love story was brilliantly remade by the psychedelic Perth band. They’ve kept close to the original, but with definite Tame Impala touches throughout, topped off perfectly by Kevin Parker and Nick Allbrook’s vocals. |
