Beastie Boys: Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 [Album Stream]

Back in 2009, infamous rappers the Beastie Boys intended to release their eighth studio album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1. Sadly though, band member Adam Yauch (aka MCA) was diagnosed with cancer which of course delayed its release indefinitely.

So with Yauch now well into recovery, the Beastie Boys have now confirmed that this coming May they will be skipping ahead and unleashing Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2. Thankfully though, most of the tracks from Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 will be making an appearance on the new record.

Head over to 3voor12 where you can stream the new album in its entirety!

But before you do, take a listen to the track ‘Too Many Rappers’ featuring New York rapper Nas, which was originally intended for HSC Pt. 1:

The Flaming Lips/Neon Indian: 12" EP

The always sexually perverse Flaming Lips have teamed up with Mexican-born Alan Palomo of Neon Indian to create a very limited and very trippy 4-track 12″ record. The EP is printed on special coloured vinyl, with Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne individually picking the colours to be sure that no two copies are the same.

Check out the EP:     Mobile users, click here to listen.

Details on the record at this stage are sparse to say the least. The EP was made available in person only at Guestroom Records in Oklahoma as well as Good Records in Dallas, Texas. As there were only 1000 copies made, they are of course sold out. No word yet on whether the record will get a world-wide release but you can listen to the other three tracks over at Old Waver.

Here is the tracklisting:

Friendly Fires: Pala

It is with great excitement that we announce that alt-dance trio Friendly Fires are gearing up to release the follow-up to 2008’s self-titled debut with Pala.

XL Recordings has put together this 1989 rave-montage to accompany the first single to come from the LP, ‘Live Those Days Tonight’ – as if it doesn’t make you want to get your dance on?

And now, to make your Friday just a little bit more awesome, Ed Mac and the boys have released new single ‘Hawaiian Air’:

The guys unveiled a bunch of tracks from Pala at an intimate gig they played at London’s XOYO on April 7. Not surprisingly, the event SOLD OUT in less than 10 mins.

Don’t fret if you missed out on that one though because they are kicking off quite an extensive tour this month in London and surrounding countries. They will then be jetting off to Canada on their way back down under to our wintery shores for this year’s 11th Splendour in the Grass music festival at Woodfordia, QLD Australia.
Grab all the tour deets here.

Pala is due out on May 16 via XL Recordings.

Animal Collective + KEEP: Sneaker Tape

Neo-psychedelic rockers Animal Collective have teamed up with cruelty-free apparel company KEEP and designed a collection of sneakers for the American Spring. There will be one shoe from each of the group’s members and for all the dedicated fans who pre-order theirs ahead of the release date, will be getting a special cassette tape that features unreleased solo tracks from all four members of the group.

Take a look at the below teaser video that Avey Tare’s sister Abby Portner (aka Drawlings) put together to get people excited about the impending release date:

The track in the video is titled ‘Fickle Cycle’ and is actually a B-side track from the 2006 ‘Grass‘ single release.

All proceeds from the shoes will go to the Socorro Island Conservation Fund – an organisation that works to preserve the biosphere of the Revillagigedo Archipelago off the Californian coast.

If you were lazy enough to not pre-order your shoes, a limited number of cassettes will be available on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis when the shoes are released for general sale on March 26.

Below is the cassette’s track listing:

1) ‘Jailhouse’ by Geologist
2) ‘Call Home (Buy Grapes)’ by Avey Tare
3) ‘Country Report’ by Deakin
4) ‘The Preakness’ by Panda Bear

The National: Think You Can Wait / Exile Vilify [Singles]

Heavy-hearted indie idols The National have donated a brand new track to new alt flick Win Win starring Paul Giamatti and debuting at the Sundance Film Festival back in January.

According to frontman Matt Berninger “the track is about very normal and good people trying to do their best and the struggle to be good – it isn’t at all narrative to what happens in the movie. It was fun, and it is a good song – we’re very proud of it.”

Take a listen to ‘Think You Can Wait’ which features guest BV’s from fellow Brooklynite, Sharon Van Etten:    Mobile users, click here to listen!
