Their 2007 release Myth Takes rocketed them into stardom with tracks like ‘Must Be The Moon’, ‘Heart Of Hearts’ and of course the title track ‘Myth Takes’. On the back of this album they toured across Australia with a massive 10 member rocking band for the We Love Sounds and Golden Plains festivals, while also doing a string of sideshows in most capital cities along the way.
The band has tragically lost two drummers since forming in 2000, the first being Mikel Gius who was struck and killed by a car while riding his bike in December 2005, then in November 2009 the band lost Jerry Fuchs (who was also a recording and touring member of The Juan Maclean, MSTRKRFT and LCD Soundsystem among others) who died after falling down an elevator shaft.
The band is now set to release their latest installment to the punk-funk-electro-disco world on August 24th. Strange Weather, Isn’t It? does away with some of the rock elements in their previous style to create a more electronic heavy sound with some trace elements of dub/house, that are noticable in the opening track ‘AM/FM’ with its echoing-hypnotic electro effects oozing its way into your brain. ‘The Most Certain Sure’ starts out with its highly addictive funky-bass-groove that loops throughout the track making you want to get your dancing shoes on, we guarantee. We feel Strange Weather, Isn’t It? is an evolution that stimulates pleasure zones and sends the pulse racing yet again.
