This young Brit likes to keep himself busy by helping those around him. Aside from his solo musical project, Cosmo runs youth empowerment and wilderness camps as well as vocal improv and beat-boxing workshops. There’s a regular community choir in Brighton he manages. In addition to this, he is also part of a nine-piece experimental/hip-hop/electro ensemble called Gentle Mystics. It’s refreshing to find a young individual with so much drive.

‘Dumb Disco Ideas’ is eight minutes of grinding disco deliciousness. The Ben Fries directed video features a dusk-to-dawn plethora of colourful, synchronised lights with a New York City skyline backdrop.

Similar in vibe to tracks released on behalf of US label French Express (the home of Perseus, Jonas Rathsman, Isaac Tichauer and Moon Boots), Lancelot introduces a set of dance-floor forefathers to a new generation, resulting in an aural explosion of analogue disco-house production.

The EP’s title-track samples the vocal hook from The S.O.S Band’s 1983 hit ‘Just Be Good To Me,’ with the B-side reflecting back on the 1986 classic ‘The Finest‘:

The track sees the band revelling in 1960s psychedelia and 1990s Britpop. Meanwhile, the video was conceptualised by vocalist/guitarist Tommy Evans and features doppelgängers, gas masked servants and actress/director Katey Meyer‘s affinity for trippy swirls. Any band that can work a melodica into a track gets our tick of approval.

The album is a fully-orchestrated record with strings, woodwind and horn courtesy of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. It also features cameos from Anthony Rossomando (The Libertines), Brad Truax (formerly of Interpol) and John Herndon of Tortoise.
