words by Alex Milne

My number one for 2015 is a no-brainer: Jamie XX, with In Colour.

This album is fun and refreshing and every single track is absolute ripper. Shout out to ‘Good Times’ and ‘Loud Places’ for giving me goosebumps.

The rest of my list can be justified as such: I’ll always be a lover of the smooth woodwind of Beirut. Sufjan Stevens delivered raw emotion in Carrie & Lowell. Of Monsters and Men have a sound that I will never tire of. I adored The Avener‘s takes on old tracks. Claptone is the master of the dance floor. Major Lazer won me over this year with ‘Lean On’ (definitely my pick for number 1 in the Triple J Hottest 100). Florence + the Machine can do no wrong. Half Moon Run are utter geniuses. I’ve probably broken the rules here but I think RÜFÜS deserve a spot in number 10 because, even though they haven’t released the full album yet, the tracks that they released have been spot on – ‘Innerbloom’ is a masterpiece
