2015 seemed to be a year for the return of old favourites for me, those bands and artists that bring good material each time round, never straying too far from their preconceived sound – and that’s just how it should be
The albums below were on my heavy rotation list this year; I listened to Sufjan Stevens‘ Carrie & Lowell everyday for an entire month, and almost eight months later I still listen to it like it came out today.
So here’s to the oldies, but also the goldies – not forgetting the few newbies who snagged a spot as well
Dutch singer, songwriter and producer Sevdaliza has just recently released her second collection of enigmatic tunes on her, Children of Silk EP.
The EP features four very impressive daydreaming arrangements of softly thudded beats, twinkling piano and Sevdaliza‘s ethereal vocals that float effortlessly through rhythmic layers of chaotic melancholy sounds.
Each week we collect a stack of great remixes from all around the world that simply wouldn’t work in one of our Friday MixTapes, but they are still 100% worthy of a mention and your undivided attention.
So we have the Non-MixTape Mixes set up to showcase some of these great finds.
Press play on each of the below and give them all the time they deserve. If you want to know more about any of the remixers or the remixees, click through to the associated Soundcloud profiles.

SACHI is a 17 year-old production duo out of New Zealand who are prepping for the release of their debut EP, Lunch With Bianca, and just a few days ago they gave us its first single.
‘No More’ is a slick synth-riddled, future-bass tune that gives us a nice little insight into SACHI‘s crisp sound and style. The vocals belong to someone known only as Zoe, and fellow-Kiwi producer SYSYI is also helping out on the track’s production.
You can keep your eyes on SACHI via the below links.
Australia’s Chet Faker has teamed up with London producer Marcus Marr and will be releasing a four-track EP called Work later on this week, and just last Friday they gave us all another little teaser with this eight-minute tune called ‘Birthday Card’.
This is definitely one of the most exciting releases to close out 2015, it drops on December 4 and you can pre-order your copy from iTunes through Chet Faker’s own label, Detail Records.
If you missed it a few weeks back, here is the EP’s lead-single ‘The Trouble With Us’
Sunday Chills is a small collection of tunes that are ideal for those lazy Sunday afternoons, whether you’re rugged up in doors or laying outside in the sunshine, these tracks are just perfect for those lazy weekend moments.

A lot of them will be seen in a Friday MixTape at some point, but for now you can enjoy each of them in their own space – be smooth and groove

A duo out of Berlin called DEATHS recently released their debut EP, Under Old Sun, showcasing a neat little four-track collection of their chilled, nostalgic indie-pop sound – nothing as morbid as their name may suggest
These tracks are quite soothing with their soft melodies, chilled instrumentation and an overall mellow atmosphere, giving DEATHS a sound that makes me think of a mix between Wolf Parade, Kisses and Sean Nicholas Savage.
Each week I collected a bunch of tracks that have stood out to me in some particular way, and come Friday I have quite a neat little collection of really cool, interesting and fun songs to share with you.
Here are my Friday Favourites for this week. If you’d like to know more about any of the below tunes, or the artists themselves, click on through to their associated Soundcloud pages – Happy Friday!
Sydney duo Left. are making the final touches to their debut EP, and ahead of its release next week they’ve given us another little taste with ‘IOU’; an infectious, chilled, electro-pop tune with a smooth atmospheric groove.

Recently we featured a great new track from a singer/songwriter out of Norway who goes by the name Intertwine in one of our ‘Newcomer’ series, the track was called ‘Heartbeat’ and it has since seen its official release on Intertwine‘s debut album Goraikoo; an impressive ten-track collection of his dreamy, atmospheric, electronic sound.
You can stream it in full below and then go grab your very own digital download via iTunes.
German producer Luka has teamed up with Los Angeles producer Nalepa (aka 1/3 of The Acid) to create two stunningly beautiful, electronic soundscapes called ‘Cloudburst’ and ‘Organphase’, and today we all get to bask in their dreamy, atmospheric wonderment.
You can get a free download of both tracks via Red Bull Music, but be sure to give the boys some love on the below socials as well.
