Winnipeg, Manitoba based newcomers Living Hour are making a quirky debut with the release of their self-titled album, bizarrely only available to buy on cassette until 2016.

Residing in a place as cold as Canada, Living Hour is an unexpected release from the four-piece as they delve into a bizarre world of cross psychedelic rock and California surf music. With this in mind, the cassette tape release seems fitting with the album. A mix of resonating guitar riffs, floating harmonies and an abundance of relaxed drumbeats creates a dreamlike soundscape that encompasses the album.

Tracks such as ‘Summer Smog’ and ‘Seagull’ truly reflect the relaxed nature of this album, perfectly fitting for long summer road trips to the beach. The album is reminiscent of Tame Impala’s Lonerism, offering the same soft psychedelic rock vibe, however  is uniquely fronted by a female lead vocalist, unusual to classic and post psychedelic rock styles. The album itself is rather unchanging, providing little variation between songs, each track dissolving into the next. For some this may cause the album to become a little stale after a few listens, for others it may offer a smooth, easy listening soundtrack that flows from beginning to end.

Overall the album is a lovely debut release from Living Hour, that will be digitally released in 2016 – you can however pick up some cassettes through here
