2014 has been a busy year for Alison Wonderland, she’s been on the road for the most part of it, and just recently she released her latest EP, which was called Calm Down.
Now that is something Alison has no intention of doing. She is playing the Stereosonic festival circuit in a few month’s time, and we jumped on the horn with her last week to ask where her love of music began.
Smash by Offspring was the first CD I ever bought with my own money. I remember being really excited that there was a part which said “You stupid dumb shit goddamn motherfucka” and I would scream it in my bedroom really loudly and feel naughty. My fave song was ‘Come out and Play,’ just cause I liked the drum beat at the beginning. Two years ago at Soundwave they were playing and I surprised myself with the realisation that I still knew every word to every song from that record!
Although I don’t think Offspring’s Smash actually helped with my music, it was a pathway into other artists who have definitely helped; people like Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins and the Beastie Boys etc.
I had some crazy flashbacks during that one!
Now for Alison’s latest single, ‘Cold’
