My First CD: Beni

Sydney’s Pied Piper of dance music Beni is currently on the road promoting his latest EP; a two track release that features UK duo Antony & Cleopatra, and boasts remixes from Prince Club, wordlife and Indian Summer.

The other day we asked Beni what the first CD he ever bought was.

You can ask any of my friends and they will tell you I’m not very well known for my memory. Maybe its all those years of smoking poorly rolled joints and listening to Brand Nubian and The Pharcyde…

From what I can remember, the first CD i bought was Big Audio Dynamite – The Globe. I remember dancing around the rumpus room to ‘Rush’ and ‘The Globe’ thinking I was English. They were great… such a good mix of pop, reggae and dance music in the 80’s and they were formed by Mick Jones from The Clash

I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure I heard The Avalanches play The Globe in a few of their DJ sets years later.

Here is Beni‘s new EP Protect, which is available now from iTunes.

Beni has two more shows happening this week on the Gold Coast and in Sydney – just follow the music:

Friday, July 18th – ELSEWHERE, Gold Coast
Saturday, July 19th – CAKES at WORLD BAR, Sydney |
