The Aussie music industry is more than often a male-dominated arena, so it’s always exciting to see some of the ladies making a really good go of it as well.
One of these upcoming, female music industry types is Antonia Gauci; a 23 year old audio engineer/producer, who you’ll often find freelancing throughout some of Sydney’s best recording studios, but is mostly seen doing her thing down at Linear Recording, in Leichhardt.
Since kicking off her career in 2011 at BigJesusBurger Studios (R.I.P), Antonia has had the privilege of working behind the scenes with some of the biggest names in the Australian music scene, including Bon Chat Bon Rat, Last Dinosaurs, Bluejuice, Gold Fields, Canyons, Wolf & Cub, Sticky Fingers, The Guppies, Jack River, Lanie Lane, The Twoks, Lunatics On Pogosticks, Glass Towers, Olympic Ayres, Midnight Pool Party and Alison Wonderland.
Antonia also tours nationally with Sydney bands Olympic Ayres and Midnight Pool Party, as part of their live performance entourage, dominating the keys and backing vocals – she also doubles as a great session muso in the studio, saving artists a shit-load of time, money and hassle.
If you’re looking for an engineer to use for your next recordings, I recommend having a chat with Antonia Gauci. She definitely knows how to handle a studio, and her input, feedback and advice can be monumental when working to strict recording budgets – not to mention, she is amazing to work with.
