2012 was the year that saw a flood of 1990’s RnB anthems reborn via the interpretation of modern disco and electro producers.
Largely responsible for this trend was US record label French Express, the home of Chris Malinchak, Perseus, Moon Boots and Isaac Tichauer.
Unless an act of homage, not many of the publications that these tracks featured on would post originals by Brandy, Toni Braxton, TLC, or Artful Dodger. However, partnered with sexy reverb, throbbing bass, cowbell and the occasional steel drum, a new generation of listeners discovered divas of the past, whilst others were drenched with nostalgia.
In no particular order, here are our top 10 RnB remixes/samplers of 2012.
