Coldplay: 2012 Australia and New Zealand Tour

English alternative-rock heavyweights Coldplay are scheduled to play four November shows in Australia and New Zealand, to promote latest album Mylo Xyloto.

This will be their first trip to Australia in almost three years, the last time being in 2009 when they were here to promote Viva La Vida (‘Death and All His Friends‘). The tour announcement has been coined as being one of the most anticipated pieces of music news in Australia this year, other than the Radiohead tour of course.

All four shows will be supported by two stellar acts – Aussie lads The Temper Trap and New York based folk-rock sister duo, The Pierces. Incidentally The Pierces’ latest album You & I, was co-produced by Coldplay’s bass player Guy Berryman, and Coldplay’s producer/engineer Rik Simpson. Drummer Will Champion also performed on the album. Clearly a strong relationship exists between the two bands.

We’re sure you can expect to hear all their latest singles including ‘Princess of China’ featuring Rihanna, ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ and ‘Us against the World.’

Earlier this year, the group performed a very gentle piano rendition of the Beastie Boys track ‘(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right to Party’ as a tribute to the late Adam Yauch.

Coldplay also played a live tribute performance recently at Apple Inc’s private memorial event for the company’s former CEO, Steve Jobs.
