Buddy Holly: Rave On Buddy Holly

There’s a Buddy Holly tribute record due for release next month, Rave On Buddy Holly. It sees Modest MouseThe Black KeysJulian CasablancasMy Morning JacketCee Lo Green, and even Sir Paul McCartney contributing their special flavours to the compilation.

Take a listen to the Modest Mouse rendition of ‘That’ll Be The Day’ – the title track from Buddy’s third and last LP released before his tragic death in 1959:   Mobile users, click here to listen.

We also have The Black Keys covering ‘Dearest’ – taken from the legendary ‘Apartment Tapes’ which was recorded in Buddy’s New York apartment in December 1958: Mobile users, click here to listen.

Buddy recorded his music so prolifically over the course of his unnaturally short career, that Coral Records was able to release new albums and singles for 10 years after his death.

Rave On Buddy Holly will be out across the globe on June 28 via Fantasy Records.
