Canadian composer, violinist, keyboardist, and vocalist Owen Pallett is just about to release A Swedish Love Story. A 4 track EP following up a full length release from earlier this year, Heartland. He had this to say to Stereogum about the release:
“It’s called A Swedish Love Story in tribute to one of my favourite films En Karlekshistoria and as a love letter to the Swedish pop stars who inspired it. This is probably the most posi record I’ll ever make, enjoy the mood while it lasts.”
Pallett co-wrote the strings arrangement for the Arcade Fire’s Funeral and Neon Bible and has also recorded and toured as a member of the band. 2005 saw him release his debut 16 track LP Has A Good Home under the name of Final Fantasy which featured the track ‘This Is the Dream of Win & Regine’ – inspired by Arcade Fire frontman and lady Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. In 2006 he released another 10 track LP, He Poos Clouds, winning him the Polaris Music Prize. Feeling uncomfortable with receiving prize money for an award sponsored by a mobile phone organisation, Pallett gave the money away to bands he liked who needed financial assistance.
